Throwback Thursday: My Collection

By June 18, 2015Collections

Hello and welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday: My collection. Today I am going to feature an alien species that has been around since the TMNT beginnings. In fact, without these guys the TMNT do not exist.

Those aliens are known as the Utroms and they are responsible for the ooze that transformed four baby turtles into our heroes known as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The Utroms debuted in volume 1 issue #3 in the original TMNT comic books. Then appeared again in the 2003 TMNT cartoon. As most of you know by now the 2k3 series was based off of the original comics. Playmates Toys took exception of their cartoon debut and produced Utrom figures in 2004 as a part of their 5th wave.

Each Utrom came with their own exoskeleton and a flying disc. The Utrom itself is a squishy rubber material and is pretty detailed for its size.

The Utroms fit nicely on their flying discs or inside of their exoskeletons.

The Utrom figures seriously lack articulation but their molds and color schemes make up for it. I guess one wouldn’t expect an exoskeleton to be too articulated and based upon their movements in the cartoon, they do come across as having a stiff posture.

These are great figures to have in any TMNT fan’s collection, especially those who love going back to the roots of this franchise! Thank you for reading and Happy Thursday!
